SIS Students Wang Miaoding, Qi Chuyan Serve as Volunteers for APEC-Related Forum
From May 16 to 19, 2025, the "APEC Capacity Building in Managing Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases: Responding to Health Emergencies and Addressing Chronic Effect" forum was held in Chongqing. The event was hosted by China-Japan Friendship Hospital and attended by senior representatives from APEC, the National Health Commission, Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, and the host hospital, who delivered opening addresses. Experts from APEC economies including China, Japan, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, and Peru, as well as from the World Health Organization, participated and delivered speeches.
Under the guidance of their off-campus practicum supervisor, Wang Pei, Director of the International Cooperation Office at China-Japan Friendship Hospital, MTI students Wang Miaoding and Qi Chuyan were deeply involved in the preparation and execution of the forum. The high-level, expertise-rich, and practice-oriented nature of the event demanded strong foreign language communication and coordination skills. On site, the two students undertook various responsibilities including guest reception, document preparation, venue coordination, and language support, demonstrating outstanding communication skills and professionalism in a multilingual setting. In addition, fellow MTI students Peng Bo and Ding Yuanhao contributed to the translation of project materials online under Wang Pei’s direction.
